An event every week that begins at 12:00am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, repeating until March 9, 2017
Lewis Colburn will exhibit his sculptural work at Haas Gallery on the Bloomsburg campus. A reception will be held at the opening, 11-2pm, with a Gallery Talk at 1:15pm. The event is free and open to the public.
As described in his statement, Mr. Colburn writes: “Early America takes as its point of departure the artifacts and material culture of late 18th century America. This is a time period that we as a nation romanticize and fixate on, for obvious reasons, but this time period gets particular emphasis here in Philadelphia. As a transplant to Philadelphia, Early America is my ongoing attempt to play with the products of our romanticized past, producing a series of sculptures that live somewhere between art object, museum replica, and the furnishings for a yet-to-be realized living history site.”
