Drawing is the first concentrated effort in the search to find what is essential in form. It is a search for the hidden constructs in nature, and becomes a pathway that leads to seeing and beyond tangible and physical realities. My art is a way of showing others how to love nature and the world and to see its beauty and form.

I received my BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in Graphic Design and my MFA from RIT in Painting and Printmaking and taught there for more than twenty years. I teach workshops and studio classes in calligraphy. My work is included in many private collections, and has been published in many professional journals and books. One of my artist’s books is owned by the Newberry Library. For the last several years I have concentrated on painting and drawing, focusing on children’s portraits, architecture, and bird illustration. I am currently accepting commissions. Heidi Brandt is a pysanky artist. Pysanky is a Ukrainian egg decorating art using a batik method of egg dying. Heidi creates pieces of art using the traditional method with traditional symbols. As well, she creates her art from original designs and personalizes eggs on consignment. Heidi is also an author of a children’s book. “Chicken Pox and Posies” is a story from the author’s own life. Asked to be in her sister’s wedding, Heidi fell in love with her beautiful flower girl’s dress, but then, came down with the Chicken Pox. Find out if the flower girl walks down the aisle or is sidelined by this childhood illness.
